Hair Expo Australia and Sustainable Salons have partnered and are standing together for a sustainable salon industry! Towards 2020, the collaboration aims to actively contribute to a sustainable society by sharing resources and skills all year round.
We’ll be supporting charities and organisations that can significantly benefit from what hairdressing industry professionals have to share!
We want to engage exhibitors, educators, and visitors to join us in adopting more environmentally sustainable processes and products for shows, as well as everyday salon practices!
We’re committed to finding new ways to attract and energise the next generation of hairdressers!
2018 saw us pilot the Sustainable Salons materials separation system specifically for Exhibitors. Eco-conscious brands can now choose to have their paper, plastics, metals and hair collected by Sustainable Salons from their stand throughout the Expo, and proudly show off their commitment, too!
Following the introduction of the single-use coffee cup recycling solution in 2018, we’ll continue to partner with Simply Cups to place Green Tubes throughout the Exhibition Hall to minimise the impact of our industry’s (extreme) caffeine habit!
Stay tuned as we release our exciting education pop-ups and events all in the name of forging an eco-wise industry, for a better people, planet and future! Let’s just say you should prepare to have your mind blown when it comes to the Art of Waste, thanks to Sustainable Salons’ wiggery genius and Creative Ambassador, Shaun McGrath.
As the first comprehensive resource recovery program designed for the salon environment, Sustainable Salons has been awarded several industry accolades for its innovation and business performance.
The company specialises in collecting up to 95% of the salon bin and redirecting all material for reuse, recycling and repurposing solutions, while rewarding each salon’s recycling efforts with useful items and savings for their business. All the proceeds from recycling are donated to OzHarvest (Australia) and KiwiHarvest (NZ); both charitable organisations are dedicated to fighting food waste and feeding the most vulnerable in our community… so far, the network has provided more than 90,000 meals to those in need!
The Sustainable Salons team continues to work tirelessly to find recycling and repurposing solutions for 100% of the waste produced in the salon environment.
