The stars align for Hair Expo Australia 2018
Tuesday 5 June 2018
Tabatha Coffey, Tracey Cunningham, Angelo Seminara, Guy Tang and Candy Shaw are some of the world’s biggest names in hair that are landing in Melbourne this week for Hair Expo Australia 2018. The three-day extravaganza for the hairdressing industry will host riveting educational sessions and demonstrations from these leading industry figures, where visitors will have the opportunity to get up close with their hair heroes.
"I am so thrilled and excited to come to Australia, I have been a few times and enjoy it immensely. The Australian audience of hairdressers are amongst the most passionate and I love the idea of sharing my passion with them”, said Angelo.
Added Candy Shaw, "I cannot wait to share the tips, tricks, tools and techniques I have developed over the past 35 years behind the chair with my new hair friends in Melbourne. It has been a career dream of mine to jump across the pond and share my Balayage education and Southern hospitality with my fellow hairdresser".
Hair Expo’s show floor is the place where professionals can discover the latest hair products and technologies to take back to their salon. Hair Expo acts as the platform from which many innovations are launched each year, and in 2018 visitors will be some of the first to experience new releases like Dyson’s new SuperSonic Professional Edition hairdryer; new natural colour brand, Previa; The Kurve Pro Styler, a titanium curling iron from hairstylist Lizzie Liros; three new high-speed toners from Pulp Riot; Kaaral’s K05 Revitae hair thickening system; the FastFoils Hair Foil Cutter, simplifying the tedious process of cutting foils; and two new hairdryers from Parlux.
Hair Expo’s evening galas present an opportunity for the industry to unwind and be inspired by thrilling showcases in hair fashion. The GenNext Gala returns in 2018, co-hosted by celebrity columnist Richard Reid and industry heavyweight, Jules Tognini. The gala is a platform for rising talent, and eight teams are set to take to the stage to present their showcases. This year’s show will also feature a main act from the Matrix Playground team, comprised of some of Australia’s leading hair artists Stevie English, Kobi Bokshish, Adam Ciaccia, Uros Mikic, Mat Johnson, and Paul Ricupito.
On Monday 11 June, the hair industry will come together for the Hair Expo Awards Gala, the pinnacle event of the Hair Expo long weekend where the winners of the most prestigious accolade in the industry are announced and celebrated. The gala will be hosted by actor and musician Natalie Bassingthwaighte, with a performance from R&B songstress Thando and hair shows from the 2017 Hair Expo Australian Hairdresser of the Year, Jason Fassbender; and the 2017 New Zealand Hairdresser of the Year, Danny Pato. An exclusive awards after-party will cap off the Hair Expo weekend, in partnership with ELEVEN Australia.
Hair Expo runs over the Queen's Birthday weekend, Saturday 9 June to Monday 11 June 2018 at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC). Tickets are available at www.hairexpoaustralia.com
